Unable To Open Images In Adobe Photoshop:Could Not Complete Your Request Because A Sofn, Dqt Or Dht Jpeg Marker Is Missing
Sometimes when opening images in Adobe Photoshop, we may get an error - Could not complete your request because a SOFn, DQT or DHT JPEG marker is missing before a JPEG SOS marker. In this post, we shall discuss how to resolve this issue if it occurs.
If you get this error when opening an image in Adobe Photoshop, it means Adobe Photoshop is unable to read the image as the jpeg file format may be messed up / the data inside the files is corrupted.
Usually when does it happen:
There would be several instances where the error "Could not complete your request because a SOFn, DQT or DHT JPEG marker is missing before a JPEG SOS marker" is observed. From my experience, I have at least encountered the error when -
- Images are recovered from a damaged disk
- Deleted images are recovered using file recovery software
- WhatsApp images transferred to the computer and opened in Adobe Photoshop
How to resolve this problem:
As Adobe Photoshop is unable to open the image (throwing the error), try to open the image from any other image editors. If it can, try to save it from that image editor and then open it in Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop should be able to open now.
If you do not have any other image editors installed on your Computer, you may even use MS Paint on Windows computer.
- Open the corrupt image in MS Paint
- Do save or Save As
- Open the image in Adobe Photoshop
